    What is a naturopath?

Quite simply Naturopathy is produced to look at every form of your health and seek to find the underlying reason and issue, instead of mere symbolic, "Band-Aid" relief. For example: You may have tingle skin caused by taking certain foods i.e. wheat. This hypersensitive (intolerance) response is your unaffected systems way of telling you something is wrong. Treating just the unaffected system will not "fix" this problem.A deeper search of the digestive structure will generally show a ‘leaky-gut’ wall is current. This is what reason your immune system to be unstable and react. This is also the first part with which we will start serving you.Your Naturopath may use:

    Herbal medicine

    Nutritional supplements

    Exercise

    Stress management techniques

    Diet

    Flower Essences

As part of your therapy plan to get you sense healthy and free again!

Our highly professional Naturopath can help you with:

    Women’s Health Issues

    Hormone Imbalances

    Natural Weight-loss

    Fatigue & Lack of Vitality

    Sluggish Digestion

    Stress Management

    Detoxification

    IBS & Constipation

    Food Intolerances

    Poor Immunity

    Childhood Illnesses

    Allergies

    Sinus infections

    Pre-conception Care

    Insulin Resistance & Diabetes

Such a great post on Naturopathy! I loved reading this. I have just joined the acupuncture Mississauga clinic as trainee acupuncturist. Here I am learning so many new things from my senior acupuncturists.

Naturopathic physicians combine the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science. Steeped in traditional healing methods, principles and practices, naturopathic medicine focuses on holistic, proactive prevention and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. By using protocols that minimize the risk of harm, naturopathic physicians help facilitate the body’s inherent ability to restore and maintain optimal health. It is the naturopathic physician’s role to identify and remove barriers to good health by helping to create a healing internal and external environment.

    According to naturopathy-uk.com:

"A Naturopath is a health practitioner who applies natural therapies. Her/his spectrum comprises far more than fasting, nutrition, water, and exercise; it includes approved natural healing practices such as Homeopathy, Acupuncture, and Herbal Medicine, as well as the use of modern methods like Bio-Resonance, Ozone-Therapy, and Colon Hydrotherapy. At a time when modern technology, environmental pollution, poor diet, and stress play a significant role in the degradation of health, a Naturopath’s ability to apply natural methods of healing is of considerable importance. Frequently, a Naturopath is the last resort in a patient’s long search for health. Providing personalised care to each patient, the naturopath sees humankind as a holistic unity of body, mind, and spirit."

I appreciate your information about a naturopath. I also found out that it can be use to controlled trials that suggest that naturopathic treatments are effective in treating some conditions like migraine headaches, depression, asthma, hypertension and others.

It all sound very interesting about naturopathy. I have seen some people cured from insomnia, migrain with the treatment like "Shirodhara" and other herbal treatment. But not aware about the career opportunity in it. Is it really good to persue the career?

Thanks for sharing everyone, your answers have been really informative! However, I'd say it's "naturopathy" or "naturopathic medicine". This is a form of alternative medicine that used different pseudoscientific methods of treating, in other words, it's a kind of "natural"/"non-invasive" practice, better knows as "self-healing". A naturopath is a person who practices such kind of medicine and it's not necessarily a doctor since lots of ordinary people use the methods of this non-scientific treatment, especially elderly people.
