Tuberculosis is a possible complication of silicosis. A person with silicosis who gets a tuberculosis infection is at high risk of developing tuberculosis disease. Chronic bronchitis occurs in a high proportion of advanced silicotics but less commonly with simple silicosis. And although pneumonia seems no more frequent in people with silicosis than in the general population, your chances for recovery are considerably decreased.
