Just as the title says, can I be a PA with a felony on my record? I was pulled over and had my weapon in my car that was registered to me but my carry permit had expired. I was charged and convicted of illegal possession of a firearm a felony in my state and was giving three years probation this is the only thing that I have on my record as I have never been in trouble with the law prior to this. I was going through my per-requisits in college for a bio degree. My question is am I wasting my time? I don't want to continue through the expense and time in school if at the end I wont get licensed and it will be useless. Anyone know who I can contact to find out for sure or have an answer?

I don't know. It would probably vary by state. Nonetheless, it may be worth the effort to try and expunge it from your record. Also, with something this important I would contact the source directly from your state...not ValueMD.

In addition to State requirements the DEA may have a say!

I would call a PA program and talk to admissions.

I cant get it expunged as this just happened over the summer.

i emailed Physician Assistant Advisory Committee for my state, and asked. we will see if they respond

There are PA forums that might be able to help you: http://www.physicianassistantforum.com/

Also, pick a handful of schools you are interested in and email the admissions dept and ask away. If you explain your situation they may be lenient.
