FAILED STEP 2 CS TWICE and seeking help

Hello, I will appreciate any advice or suggestion i can get here whether its positive or negative.
    US IMG
    Step 1: 195
    Step 2 CK: 222
Step 2 CS: failed twice, going for 3rd attempt (not sure when as of yet)
Do i have any chance of matching into Family Medicine? If not, do i have any feasible career options with an MD? I will highly appreciate any input on this. Thank You very much

The odds are stacked against you for Family Medicine with two Step 2 CS fails. Near impossible to match into Family Medicine or Internal Medicine unless you have any insider connections with a residency training program. What were the reasons for failing?

Yes you are right. Its pretty impossible to match. I failed ICE both times. I thought i wrote good notes 2nd time but they were not sufficient enough apparently.

Forget about applying for the match this year. You'll waste all of your money. Once you pass Step 2 CS, your next focus is to pass Step 3 and do some clinical research prior to applying for the NRMP 2019 - 2020 season. That can help your application. These are your only options if you intend to pursue residency training.

What did you use to study? I honestly studied ONLY FA AND typed every case using usmle software. It seems to me you really need to practice note writing. What I did was type every long case on the USMLE website which gives you the exact 10 min timer, that way you know how fast or how slow you should type. Never use abbreviations or "WNL". If you study every case from FA you will pass ICE!

I agree with the above posts... Your chances for matching are at a significant disadvantage with 2 CS failures in addition to a low step 1 score (despite the improvement on CK).

The 2019 match is pretty much off the table. In order to maximize your chances of getting into residency you will need to make sure that you pass CS on your 3rd attempt. This also involves determining what your deficiencies are. What were your resources? Did you study/practice with anyone? Did you use a prep-course? etc... If not, I would strongly advise timing yourself, practicing with a fellow student, and going to a prep-course where they can critique your patient encounter and documentation.

Hopefully during your clinical years you rotated at a family medicine residency and left a good impression. Places that know you and your ability will be your best shot at residency...

    Hello All,

Passed step 2 CS with stars in all sections. Couldnt believe it at first however my overall application is still damaged with 2 previous failures on CS
I am applying for this upcoming cycle.

    1) what should i do till september to strengthen my CV? Would working as a Medical Scribe be fine or i would need to do a little more?
    2) Should i think about taking Step 3? Bcz of my 2 attempts on CS, i'm a little scared if i end of screwing this one as well
    3) Should i ask my LOC writers to update current dates on them?
    4) any suggestions/advice?

I really appreciate for any input on this. I wish nothing but happiness and success for you all. Thank You

My advice......don't worry about ANYTHING anyone on this, or any other forum says. You've passed. Congratulations. Apply to 100-200 FM residency programs.......You'll match somewhere. Be willing to relocate to any part of the USA at all. If you do that, you will probably match. Relax. God has a plan for us all.

    Good Luck.
