    SGU or DO postbacc

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post. Im in a bit of a dilema. I have struggled extensively with the MCAT. Took it 3 times and only managed to get 495 which is a 23 on the old mcat. I have a 3.58 cGPA and 3.2sGPA. I applied to sgu last 2 weeks, got an interview after a week of applying and got accepted a day after my interview. I was shocked at how fast i got in and was expecting the whole process to take about a month. I know that getting into US MD schools is pretty nonexistent at this point even with my urm status. So i applied to a DO postbacc with a linkage to their med school class if i am able to maintain a 3.6 and 494 mcat (I meet the mcat YAY!). I applied to the program and after calling to inquire about the status of my application i was told the committee hasnt even met yet! I probably won't hear anything until May. I have until April 9th to Accept or decline my sgu acceptance and pay my $1000 deposit. Im not sure if sgu allows deferment. I would love to defer until january class. What would you do in my situation? Retake the mcat a 4th time to try and get into a US school? Defer going to sgu and Wait to see if i get into the postbacc and attend a DO school next year? OR start sgu this August? Any advice will be truly appreciated.

Just ask them to defer admission to January. This DO postbacc sounds very intriguing! Basically a program to get you up to speed to enter DO school? Wonderful!

I agree Def To january. Always take the American ROUTE 1st before using IMG. IMG should be last option or the best option available to you. Good luck with everything

Thank u for the reply. But how do i go about asking for a deferment if its even allowed? Would i stkll need to put down my deposit before they reserve a seat for me?
