with two PharmD residents...is it common, sure for a FM Community-based program. Some programs just take in a lot of IMGs but it really depends on the program and location.

    Congrats to the grad!

well actually, its not necessarily. Why? 1) in some programs every senior is a chief and in those that aren't 2) chief requires often an extra year; not everyone wants to do it. especially in non-speciality fields where folks aren't worried about tweaking up the cv. And finally 3) it requires extra work. Not everyone wants it again if not tweaking the CV. Its usually prestigous in high powered programs. This takes nothing away from the individuals accomplishments but students really need to understand what this all means. Remember folks, you need to truly understand what you're talking about. I'm sure no one meant to be disingenuous. It's just important to understand what this all means as you are making your decisions, and guiding others to do so.

and this is a prime example of someone with experience is not knocking down what you're saying: http://www.valuemd.com/windsor-medic...tml#post713912

i think you take posts a little too personally and feel as though people are trying to "knock down" your school when in reality, they are speaking the truth. many don't want to stay the extra year to be a chief resident, as steph said and this is not at all knocking down what you posted. this doesn't take anything away from the Windsor grad, but it is the truth and you shouldn't take it personally.

this has NOTHING to do with staying an extra year or not. we all know that windsor does not have many residents yet, and when we find that one of our students has become a chief resident in ANY program, higher power or not, that student DOES deserve some praise. This student is paving the way for all of us...
